The 50 World’s Best Vineyards list is assembled through the input of the World’s Best Vineyards Academy, a group made up of nearly 500 leading wine aficionados, sommeliers, and luxury travel correspondents. Each individual enters the Academy with a diverse range of experiences in the international wine and wine tourism scene, resulting in an exciting and eclectic range of global wine regions featured on the list.

There exists no set specification of requirements to be reached in order to be considered for the award, but members of the Academy were given the opportunity to nominate up to 3 vineyards inside and up to 4 outside their geographical voting region based on consideration of factors such as accessibility, reputation, aesthetics, price, ambiance, tour quality, and so on.

The Ridgeview team were delighted to receive the award at the announcement ceremony at Banqueting House on Whitehall. CEO Tamara Roberts said:

"Incredible news for Ridgeview to be included in the top 50 vineyards in the world. The list features spectacular wineries from around the world and we are honoured to be listed alongside global wineries that we have long admired. It is fantastic for Ridgeview to be acknowledged not only for our wines but our beautiful setting amongst the South Downs of Sussex and the awards have placed an important spotlight on England as a global destination for wine tourism."

Over the last decade, English Sparkling Wine has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity, and Ridgeview has been a pioneering force within the scene. Founded in 1995, Ridgeview was one of the first wineries to be devoted to the production of English sparkling wine and gained global recognition in 2018 as it was crowned IWSC Winemaker Of The Year. Situated in Sussex on the South Downs of England, the winery is operated by the second generation of the Roberts family, making this accolade a particularly poignant one. Ridgeview is pleased to be a leading authority on English sparkling wine and keenly maintains a busy international travelling itinerary in order to further spread the word of not only Ridgeview wines, but the burgeoning English wine scene as a whole.
