Highlights March 2018

Spring has sprung! Trees are sprouting, the birds are singing, the breeze is blowing, and the temperature is in a pleasant range – albeit let’s not forget the huge dumping of snow in the middle of March! It’s been a busy month so far and here are some of our best bits.

It's an incredible crisp winter's day-minus three degrees Celsius before wind chill-and so still that the quiet leaves my city ears ringing. In the distance, I can see the Red Cuillin mountains on the nearby Isle of Skye, today topped with snow. A bird flies past. A lone car passes by on the road.

What We're Eating This Week

To South Kensington, where super-chef Phil Howard has created a special dish to eat alongside the newest vintage of Champagne Bollinger, which has only just gone on sale - to much excitement. These guys don't release vintages very often (only when good enough) and the "Recently Disgorged" ones are the most coveted due to extended ageing.

 The Oban Times reports on an exciting month for Founders of Wild Thyme Spirits, Fin and Eileen Geekie, who are moving gin production to their headquarters on Colonsay...
