Highlights January 2018

Even the most jovial of us can find January a rather dark, dreary and depressing time of the year. The post-Christmas come down coupled with long dark nights can certainly leave us with a bad a case of January blues. While most are happy to see the back of this month here at Kapranos we have been busy kick-starting 2018 and so far it’s got off to a fantastic start.

This January the first Rassay distillery opened to visitors and The Idler Magazine interviewed Alasdair Day about the art of whiskey making on such a remote island..

Despite the incredible breadth of London's dining scene, those with an intolerance of gluten have traditionally had it tough. For a long time, gluten-free dining options have either been leaden or liable to fall to dust (here's looking at you, Genius bread) but things are looking up with restaurateurs, bakers and supermarkets widening our choice with game-changing new dishes and products.

After the hugely successful World’s Best Martini Challenge at OSLO, we were thrilled about seeing the WBMC winner, Arbikie, making the world's best martini live on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch!

Vegan cake, vegan burgers, vegan pizza and now vegan crisps. It's official: London has gone green food crazy. Crisp shack HIPCHIPS has just added itself to the Veganuary train by offering Londoners a load of animal free dips. If you haven't been yet, Soho's ultimate gimmick is known for its specially handcrafted 'heritage' crisps and sweet and savoury dips.
