OUR TOP 10 BITES AND SIPS OF 2014

2014 has been a great year for us at KPR, here's a round-up of the best bits…

1 - THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS…

Basement Sate, a cocktail and dessert bar was launched in September in Soho and helped spark London’s newest eating and drinking trend. From the co-owner of Paris’s Sherry Butt and featuring Desserts by ex-Maze pastry Chef, Dorian Picard, Basement Sate pairs delicious desserts and delectable cocktails, ensuring flavours are complemented and sweet is balanced with sharp. With DJs at the weekend and a new winter menu, Basement Sate was covered extensively by the likes of Marie Claire, Elle, GQ, The Evening Standard, High Life, and The Times.

2 - ONE TEQUILA, TWO TEQUILA, THREE TEQUILA, MORE

2014 was the year of the Agave at KPR. We were proud to represent London’s first Agavaria, El Nivel, which is owned by tequila Ambassador, Tomas Estes and his Mezcal expert son, Jesse, both the people behind Ocho Tequila. The likes of Shortlist, ES Magazine, Esquire and Time Out have all been fans. We also had the opportunity to showcase two exciting Mexican brands, Tequila Grillos and Blue Demon Mezcal at TequilaFest, which will both be launched early next year.

3 - STOMPIN’ AT THE SAVOY

Kapranos PR had the pleasure of working with The Savoy this year on the launch of the Beaufort Bar’s exciting new menu. This beautiful limited edition pop-up menu, intricately illustrated and cut, and inspired by the famous visitors to the Savoy and world journeys attracted lovers of cocktails and fine art alike. The press were also fans, and the menu was featured in the likes of Elle Decoration, The Sunday Times Style, The Wall Street Journal and Food and Travel Magazine.

4 – HITTING HALLOWEEN HARD

2014's Halloween saw us represent some of the coolest events in town. For those seeking out the magical macabre, The Dark Circus Party Halloween Special and A Grimm Halloween from Bourne & Holllingsworth led its guests onto the dark side. While those searching to discover the spirit within were not disappointed by Cubanisto’s House Of Mask Halloween Special in a secret East London location. And as The Day of the Dead became as popular as Halloween itself, Tequila and Mezcal bar, El Nivel hosted a Mexican skull-tastic extravaganza.

5 – COCKTAILS IN THE CITY

6 - SUMMER LOVIN'

Despite the risks that come with a British summer, we pulled off some of the year’s greatest events. The Chap Olympiad turned 10 this year, and London's best dressed gentlemen gathered in leafy Bedford Square for its annual celebration of sporting ineptitude, cravats and sharp trouser creases.

Those looking to recreate the glamour of the 1930s cruise liner hopped on board the SS Atlantica, which set sail for a Summer voyage down the Thames, while the Blitz party's D-Day special brought back the 1940's patriotism. The Prohibition Party celebrated its 50th event with a huge, riotous bash that saw Vintage Mafia host a Secret Ric Rac club in one of the rooms.

7 - BOURNE & HOLLINGSWORTH BUILDINGS

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, a Modern Brasserie and Bar, set the design world’s tongues wagging when it opened in Clerkenwell in late-September. From the people behind Reverend JW Simpson, Blitz Party and Prohibition, and Bourne & Hollingsworth Bar, B & H Buildings set out to offer an all-day eating and drinking space that combined all of the brand’s talents under one roof.

Situated just off Exmouth Market, Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings features a restaurant and greenhouse, private rooms and large Grand Café style bar.  Taking inspiration from the faded grandeur of a stately home, the venue’s design combines trailing plants, rich upholstery and roaring fires – the perfect place for a Christmas party. The venue was featured in a wide range of press, including Living Etc., Evening Standard, Quintessentially Magazine, Homes & Gardens and The Clerkenwell Post.

8 – KEEPING SEVEN DIALS TICKING!

This year saw us work with two clients in the Seven Dials Area. We launched American 90s hangout Earlham Street’s new beer pump in early 2015 as well as its exciting new Crodough menu. In the Spring time, Canela, a new Portuguese restaurant and wine bar launched, bringing an authentic taste of Portugal to Covent Garden. With beautiful crisp interiors and a comprehensive wine list from the country’s varied regions and independent producers, Canela was a bit hit with the press, especially with Bossa Nova nights taking place during the World Cup.

9 - RED HOT GOES GLOBAL!

The exhibition that set out to challenge and change the perceptions of the ginger male travelled the world in 2014 to huge success and a global press coverage. Since its launch in London, Thomas Knights’s ginger hotties have helped redefine the way we see red-haired men. 2014 saw RED HOT travel to New York and then Sydney before returning back to London for a pop up concept store and exhibition that featured the RED HOT 100 coffee table book. Attracting international press including the Sydney Morning Herald, The New York Times, New York Magazine and The Australian Daily Telegraph, while here in the UK, Time Out voted it in their top ten top ideas for 2014.
